AIdAF, the Italian Association of Family Businesses, was founded in 1997 by Alberto Falk together with a group of entrepreneurs bound by the same principles and today encompasses more than 180 family businesses, representing approximately 14% of our Country’s GDP.

The Association essentially carries out three sets of activities:

Training and accountability of associated family members, whether they are involved in the operational management of the business, young or old, also with the first unfamiliar managerial line approaching the issues of family business.

Institutional projects compared with national and European politics for maintenance and training in a normative and regulated context that benefit family businesses, their development and their continuity from one generation to the next.

Exchange of experiences via the organization of moments of meeting and exchange of ideas to facilitate the network of contacts among associated entrepreneurial families.

AIdAF is an Italian Chapter of FBN – Family Business Network – an institute at the international level which represents 3,000 family businesses with more than 9,100 associates in approximately 58 countries worldwide, allowing for a continuous exchange of experiences and international best practices to contribute to the training of new generations of entrepreneurial families.

AIdAF supports Chair AIdAF – EY in memory of Alberto Falck of Family Business Strategies, at Bocconi University in Milan led by Prof. Guido Corbetta, the only high-quality center in Italy for specific training that affirms the economic and social relevance of family businesses.

AIdAF has established, together with Bocconi University, the Unicredit Group and the Milan Chamber of Commerce, AUB Observatory, which monitors and analyses the economic and financial performance of Italian businesses of family property with an annual turnover from 50 million euros, publishing an annual report.

In the programs of the Association, a series of institutional activities has been developed that permit the overseeing, via qualified worktables, of a constant dialogue with the government institutions and agencies on issues close to the needs of members companies – Tax & Succession Law, Corporate & Succession Law, Governance, Work and Welfare –.
